¶ How to Enhance SV08 First Layer Printing
SV08 sometimes encounters hot bed isn’t flat, resulting in the appearance of the nozzle scraping PEI board or consumables can not be glued to the hot bed plate. Below we analyze its causes and solutions, just for reference.
From the image, it is evident that during the initial printing of a large area, there are instances of filament non-adherence and over-extrusion. It can be attributed to the injection-molded parts at the base of the heated bed, which may undergo physical deformation during the heating process, lead to potential alterations in the distance between the nozzle and hot bed different from the 'Z calibrate' reference value. Figures 2 and 3 illustrate that this distance is lower than the specified value.
It should be noted that not all machines will exhibit these characteristics. If your machine or printed parts meet these conditions, please refer to this document for guidance on enhancing your printing quality.
Tip: All suggested solutions require ensuring that your printer firmware version is 2.3.3 or later; if your version is outdated, please consult our video guide for updating.
Before proceeding with the following steps, please make sure your hotbed is level. Please refer to the WIKI tutorial:The hotbed is not level or the heightmap values vary greatly
Example situation:
Situation 1: If you print the model more than 300 sizes, you find that your first layer of printing appeared to be over-extruded or scratched PEI plate, as shown in Figure.

¶ 1. Before performing a print job with the SV08, preheat the machine to 65°C and keep it at 65°C for 30 minutes then select a file to print. You can preheat the machine directly on the screen before printing (Warm Tip: Please ensure that the heat bed preheating time of 30 minutes).

¶ 2. When slicing the model for this printing, you can choose to add the command “G4 P1800000” in front of the start Gcode of Orca Slice SV08 and then slicing it, then when you import the sliced model into the machine and start to print it, the machine will automatically keep the heat bed at 65 degrees. Waiting for 30 min later, it automatically carry out the heat bed mesh probing of the model printing. Please note: If the size of the model for your next print job is less than 300x300, please delete the “G4 P1800000” command and you can print directly without waiting.

① Open the machine Settings page
② Click the printer Gcode setting interface
③ Find the starting Gcode location
④ Add “G4 P1800000” command before “ G28 ”command
⑤ Click to save Settings
⑥ Set a name for easy differentiation
⑦ Click“OK” to complete the setup

The printing speed of the first layer can be reduced appropriately or use the SV08 default first layer speeds to ensure the stable and successful printing of the first layer; You can also turn on Z-axis lift, the default lift parameter of SV08 in the latest Orca Slice is 0.6, you can increase this lift height parameter, but it is recommended that the lift height not exceed 1mm.

¶ 4. Reducing the extrusion flow rate of the first layer can also prevent over extrusion of the first layer to a certain extent. Necessarily,(e.g. when printing materials with high shrinkage such as ABS) the adhesion effect of the consumables can also be increased by modifying the filling pattern or applying a PVP type glue.
If you observe in the “HEIGHTMAP” interface of the mainsail system that the “Bed Mesh” data has a huge difference in the detection height of more than 1mm, you can also heat up the hot bed to 65℃ and keep it at 65℃ for 30 minutes to conduct bed mesh.

If you have followed the above method to detect after heating, but still get a detection picture with a huge difference in height, please feedback to Sovol support and provide the picture (use a ruler stuck on the hot bed plate, the gap between the ruler and the hot bed is more clearly observed, and it can easily pass through 4pcs of A4 paper).
